Wolcott Sophomore Receives UConn Writing Award
Oliver Wolcott Technical High School's Sophomore Christina Thompson was selected as a finalist for UCONN's Connecticut Writing Project. Her original fiction piece entitled "Dream Life" received an honorable mention award and a listing in the Connecticut Student Writers Magazine (CSW). Christina is a hairdressing student currently in Ms. Joanne Galenski-Girardin's Honors English class. Her short story "Dream Life" is an existential narrative demonstrating how Barbie 's life came to be.
She was recognized at UCONN's Student Recognition Night on May 11, 2017. She was one of twenty-five winners of Honorable Mention in grade 10 from across the State. Annually, over 1,000 students from Connecticut's schools submit original writing to be judged by UCONN professors. Congratulations Christina!
