Principal Message to Grade 9 Parents/Guardians

Dear Grade 9 Parent/Guardian, 

On Monday, August 30, we will welcome our new grade 9 students to Wolcott Tech for their first day!  The start of school is at 7:15.  Students should enter the school at the main entrance on Oliver Street. Students will be greeted by our enthusiastic staff and Senior Mentors and will be guided to the gym for the start of the day. After opening activities, students will be escorted to their homerooms where they will receive paper copies of their class schedule and other information. After orientation with their homeroom teachers, students will be put in small groups with our senior mentors for a full school scavenger hunt.  Here they will visit the locations of their classrooms, the nurse’s office, the trade areas, and the counseling office. They will also get a lunchroom run-through so everyone knows how to get lunch and breakfast.  

 The rest of the day is full of team-building activities and an overview of all policies and expectations for students. We will have a fun and free cookout in the courtyard with picnic fare and information on our in-school clubs and signups will be available. At the end of the day at 2 P.M.,  students will be escorted to their buses. We do not let buses leave until all students are on the bus. 

Students should bring a mask to school and masks are required on school buses at all times. Currently, mask use is required inside the school building.  Students will receive mask breaks throughout the day.
